We see the Belgian and Luxembourg payments market evolving rapidly as more and more people prefer electronic payments over cash. Mastercard is a key enabler of this trend taking a larger role providing simple and safe technology-based solution to consumers. To support our growth and drive innovation, we have decided to open a Account Director position.

The Mission

The position requires a senior, highly self-motivated, commercially pragmatic, account manager and business developer with strong influencing and negotiating skills to partner with customers across numerous market specific proposals and portfolio engagements. The individual will be responsible for taking a proactive and thought leadership role in how to drive the business forward and partner with the various cross functional Mastercard teams to enable delivery of the customers vision and priorities to grow the Mastercard business. The candidate will be part of the Belux cluster leadership team, reporting directly in the country manager.

About You

  • Successful sales experiences at senior level in challenging environments (start-up, tech, retail, consulting) and in conducting business development activities working with cross functional partners
  • Strong commercial skillset with marketing acumen and entrepreneurship mindset with strong ability to think out of the box, take initiatives and a taste for challenge, strong closer seeking opportunities that match the client’s needs and focused on the bottom line
  • Self-starter/self-motivated with a natural ability to learn independently relying on the sources at hand and by seeking advice from the team
  • Analytical skills to understand customer needs, identify market perspectives, understand technological and data-based services, use sophisticated business cases and provides insight and analysis of market and customer business through profitability modeling, financial forecasting and competitive analysis
  • Ability to understand the new evolutions in technology and how to apply them to business
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator and influencer at all levels with strong negotiation skills.
  • Excellent networker with a proven ability to develop relations at senior executive level; and has established contacts in the Belgian and Luxembourg financial industry.
  • Team player with an ability to collaborate with all the internal and external stakeholders (technical teams, products teams, sales experts, legal teams etc…) with a strong problem-solving orientation
  • Fluency in English, French and Dutch is required
  • Bachelor’s degree required
