Director of Operations & Maintenanceis responsible forthe management, maintenance, performance and costs of BDC projects in operation. The Director - through management and coordination with individual facility managers -oversees all day-to-day activities on the plants and ensures the effective operations of all plant, assets, people (employees/vendors), processes, compliance, safety standards and results to Company standards to ensure operational and financial objectives are met. The Director manages a group of plant managers and works with them to enforce company standards, and interfaces with the BDC to ensure the contractual obligations are being met.
This position reports to the Chief Engineering, Construction & Operations Officer.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain all compliance requirements, to include but not limited to, those related to safety, utilities and regulatory agencies, financial reporting, insurance, warranties, site leases, and permits

Carries out responsibilities in accordance with Company policies and applicable laws.- Leads, supervises and provides resources for all plants. Safety is a priority and the Director will lead by example
- Constantly monitors and evaluates the status and productivity of the projects. Provides solutions and directs action to improve performance.
- Monitors and analyzes the financial operational records. Assists in the development of annual budgets for the facilities and special projects. Provides solutions and directs action to ensure compliance with the Company’s and projects approved budget.
- Works with other departments to report on statistical and performance data and other analytical activities as required.
- Work to develop your direct reports, identify required areas of improvement and using development plans seek to continually improve the organization.
- Supervise staff, prepare annual appraisals, prepare staffing requests, make recommendations on hiring and disciplinary actions. Perform performance reviews with clear guidelines, metrics, provided summaries to Plant Managers as an input for their work plan development
- Coach operating teams and leadership to root cause identification, elimination of losses, and the use of problem-solving tools to identify gaps and prioritize work.
- Maintains Company relationships both inside and outside of the plants.
- Establish and track KPIs as required to successfully manage the safety, quality, and efficiency of the operations. Meet or exceed all Key-Performance-Indicators (KPIs)
- Work with other departments to effectively control, track and set the inventory of parts and tools to address the needs of the plants.
- Create multiyear capital construction/improvement plans for the purpose of overall facilities planning and budgeting
- Identify opportunities for improvements in safety, performance and costs using data monitoring, real-life operational input, staff input and collaboration with other departments in critical analyses
- Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
- Serves as a member of relevant company committees as assigned.
- Adheres to company policies, safety standards and good housekeeping practices.
- Assist Plant Managers with plant coverage as needed (requested by Plant Manager) for vacations, heavy plant workloads, etc.
- Conduct plant visits as needed.
Qualifications \u007C Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Technical Field and/or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years progressive and relevant experience in energy operations management preferably in the organics to energy business.
- Knowledge of operating codes, standards, regulations, and industry practices.
- Proven leadership skills to liaise with industry partners, regulatory agencies, other external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage across functional groups within a large organization using problem solving, technical background, and sound decision making.
- Strong financial acumen for budgeting, forecasting, understanding of revenue opportunities, market variables and commercial contract underpinnings.
- Strong team leadership experience managing people in multiple locations with collaborative working style.
- Demonstrated results getting individuals/teams to perform at higher levels through changing expectations.
- Demonstrated contract and negotiations skills and strong vendor relations.
- Interpret and analyze business correspondence, contracts, financial and statistical data, and technical procedures.
- Ability to present business cases to optimize the assets and perform cost/benefit analysis.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to direct operations and manage employees remotely.

Physical Requirements
- Able to stand for long periods of time, climb ladders/steps and walking around facilities.
- Ability to travel for training and meetings up to 50% of the time.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
